Crowns and Bridges

If you broke or cracked a tooth, a crown (also called a cap) might be your best option. If you lost a tooth or have a space between two teeth a bridge or an implant might be a very good alternative.

What is a Crown?

When a tooth is heavily decayed or a root canal has been preformed it is more likely to fracture and lose considerable tooth substance. The greater risk is that a fracture line may go below the margin of the gum which makes restoration more difficult or near impossible. A crown also called a “cap” is a tooth-like covering placed over a carefully prepared existing tooth to prevent further damage to the tooth and also helps to strengthen, restore or improve the appearance of your natural tooth. The crown is placed on an individual tooth much like a thimble over your finger. A crown may be made of gold, other metals, or porcelain.

What is a Bridge?

A bridge allows us to replace lost teeth without the use of a denture or dental implants. Basically a false tooth is held in place by being attached to an existing tooth. A bridge is fixed in your mouth. It is not a removable. The teeth next to the space are prepared in a similar way to a crown in order to accept the bridge.

Asseff Dental Cosmetics & General Dentistry offer affordable crowns & bridges that are made from state-of-the-art gold, metals, as well as porcelain materials. At Asseff Dental, we work hard to make sure the crown or bridge has proper shape, shade, and feels good so that you can have a perfect smile and are able to chew!
